An Art Class Like No Other

Seasons Art Class Waitakere & Western Springs is part of the Seasons Art Class® franchise — an established UK programme founded in 2009. Its structured, welcoming 14-week format brings step-by-step tuition, carefully developed projects, and a sociable creative experience to local communities.

Since opening in West Auckland in 2021, more than 200 students have passed through our courses. Each term builds confidence and skills through drawing, oil pastels, watercolours and acrylics.

What you’ll learn

Six Stages. One Incredible Journey.

Each 14-week term takes you through four art mediums, a professional mounting week, and a celebratory exhibition. You’ll create 12 original masterpieces with experienced tutors.

Week 1–3

Pencil Drawing

Master observation and mark-making. From still-life to portraiture, build a confident hand and trained eye.

Week 4–5

Oil Pastels

Blend bold colours and create textured artworks with immediate, satisfying results.

Week 6–8

Watercolours

Learn washes, wet-on-wet and layering techniques for luminous, atmospheric paintings.

Acrylics

Explore bold colour, texture and mixed media in a versatile, expressive final medium.

Week 13

Mounting & Framing

Selected artworks are carefully mounted and framed, ready for the end-of-term exhibition.

Are art materials provided?

Yes — all materials are included in your course fee. We supply quality pencils, oil pastels, watercolours, acrylics, paper and canvas. You only need to bring yourself and a willingness to create.

Do I need any prior experience?

Absolutely not. The course is designed for complete beginners as well as people who have dabbled before and want to improve. Tutors meet students exactly where they are.

What art mediums will I learn?

Over 14 weeks you’ll work through Pencil Drawing, Oil Pastels, Watercolours and Acrylics. By the end of term, you’ll have created 12 finished artworks.

How much does the course cost?

Secure a place with a one-off registration fee of $88, pay $53 per session weekly, or pay $730 for the full term upfront. All pricing is in NZD and includes materials.

Where are the classes held?

We run Henderson sessions at Henderson Bowling Club, 2/20 Alderman Drive, and Western Springs sessions at 108 Western Springs Road, Morningside. Full times are listed above.

How many students are in each class?

Classes are kept small and intimate — typically 10 to 15 students — so you receive plenty of one-on-one attention in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Is there an exhibition at the end of term?

Yes. Every term concludes with an exhibition where students display selected artworks. Friends and family are welcome to attend. The current exhibition is on 5 December 2026.

What if I miss a class?

Life happens. Let us know in advance if possible and your tutor will give you a brief catch-up at the beginning of the next class.
